British HCI 2015 will be held on the main Brayford Pool campus of the University of Lincoln. All sessions will be scheduled to take place in the centre of campus in the main academic building which offers plenty of breakout space and opportunities for refreshments. The campus is located a few minutes’ walk from the heart of the historic city of Lincoln, as well as from Lincoln Central train station. There are also a wide range of bars, shops, hotels and restaurants in the close vicinity. LiSC has compiled a guide and interactive map for your trip to Lincoln, available here.
Lincoln and the Magna Carta The heritage of Lincoln has played a big part in our conference theme and the historic steep hill, castle and cathedral quarter are a short (20 minute) walk from the campus. The Castle is home to one of the last remaining copies of the Magna Carta and the city will celebrate the 800th anniversary of the signing of this historic document throughout 2015 with a major series of events. The document itself, as well as the Charter of the Forest (1217), can be viewed in a brand new subterranean vault in the Castle. A list of general and arts-related events happening in Lincoln during the week of the conference can be found here.
A Night in the Museum The conference reception – on the evening of Thursday 16th July – will be held in The Collection museum just a few hundred yards away from the cathedral. The museum, as part of the celebration of Magna Carta’s 800th anniversary, will be one of the city’s locations for the 2015 Great Exhibition bringing together rare items drawn from private, national and international collections to celebrate the wealth that Lincolnshire has brought to the world. We will have private access to the museum, be given talks by museum staff and – of course – get to sample local Lincolnshire food and drink.
